Pulseaudio not connected (kernel related?)

Hi, I’m not exactly new to endeavourOS but this is my first post here.

I recently did a fresh install of the latest ISO (online installer) and with default settings/configuration pulseaudio is not working correctly. Volume control says “establishing connection to pulseaudio server”, and just hangs. Interestingly, when switching to the LTS kernel and without changing anything else pulseaudio does connect properly. So it seems that something to do with the main kernel is causing issues with my hardware? By the way, my primary audio output is a USB DAC.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If the other kernel works keep using it until there’s a kernel update. In last case you can try this package. It’s called pipewire and it’s a replacement for pulseaudio

@lucidae

Thanks for giving EndeavourOS a try, and welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Replacing pulseaudio with pipewire-pulse fixed the issue (by default only pipewire was installed).

I have yet to figure out why the kernel is a variable, but that’s probably beyond the scope of this topic.
