Project Hail Mary

This looks absolutely fascinating.

I am kind of thinking it may be similar to the Armagedon movie?

Which Armageddon did you watch? More like a recent episode of Love, Death, & Robots. Only the alien became like a son rather than a friend to the human.

A movie comparison would probably be Interstellar, but with an alien friend.

Scratch my first comparison, was thinking more about the alien than anything.

The one with Bruce Willis.

I don’t see an Armageddon connection, and I’m not familiar with Love, Death, & Robots.

Armageddon was to protect Earth from an asteroid collision. Is this one to protect Earth from a dying sun? I may be wrong though.

You love Sci-Fi and don’t know Love, Death, & Robots?
Think Black Mirror, but animated, with a few wacky episodes here and there.
In fact, one of the best stories ever told was done without words - Jibaro. :pinched_fingers:
There was a whole lotta screaming, though.

The “protecting Earth from a disaster”, I see. But that’s it. Dozens of films have that storyline, I suspect. I’m more interested in the alien/human connection.

I’ll look into that. Thanks!

Kizazi Moto is similar, but with Afro-centric plots.

I think I might have to check it out when it releases

I have read the (Greek) book and listened the (English) audiobook.
No connection or similarities with Armageddon (I have seen the movie) or Love, Death, & Robots. (I have seen the series and read the 4 volumes anthology)
I am cautiously optimistic about the film. I have no trust in Hollywood. Not whether it will be a (money, money, money) success, but whether it will appeal to something smarter than an amoeba.

:backhand_index_pointing_up:

I no longer look forward to anything from Hollywood except its Final Demise.

The book was fantastic, I will skip the movie

The book was so good I read it twice. Fantastic story. I hope the movie does it justice. The trailer looks like they follow the major plot points, unlike other book adaptations.

If you want to be traumatised for life.. strongly recommend Animatrix, - a short series made by world-class Directors.. as an offshoot to the Matrix series. They’re.. difficult to watch for sure.

Pretty sure you meant WASHINGTON DC’s final demise.

Wasn’t Aware Washington DC was in the film business. I only thought they were in the Bullshit business.

Until just recently you’d be right… makes me want to cancel my Amazon Prime in addition to all the other crap of being Amazon, but we’re veering dangerously off topic…

I fixed your statement.

Oh, wait a minute.

That’s just my opinion.
