I found a solution for the media keys not working
This may happen with QMK firmware keyboards
Media keys are detected as “mouse presses” (for some reason)
If the media keys don’t work, try going into
System Settings > Mouse & Touchpad > Mouse
Change “Device” to your keyboard (usually named “keyboard name Consumer Control”) and then tick the “Device enabled” checkbox
