Privacy bug in GDM - Gnome 47.2

Hi,
Yesterday I encountered a strange bug with the Gnome lock screen. My computer was locked and I had an external monitor connected. The problem was that the content of the external screen was accessible (viewable, but not clickable).

The strange thing is that when I opened the system menu (quick toggle) the screen returned “darkened” with the lock screen image, but once I closed the menu the screen content returned visible. I must point out that the problem occurred only once and after an update (before restarting the PC). I’m using an HP Envy x360 2-in-1 laptop with Gnome 47.2 on Wayland, Kernel: 6.12.9-zen1-1-zen.

Do you think this is a one-time bug, or have others encountered the same problem?

Can you reproduce it? If so report upstream

This actually happened a few times with Cinnamon’s lockscreen for me. I use SDDM, though. And for me, it was several flickers showing the open windows, but it was also on a laptop with no external monitors.

I haven’t seen it in a while because I usually lock my screen with betterlockscreen.

That said, I ignored it because I don’t need to worry about it.
