I like the fact there are more options out there. Gnome and KDE are very mature, we will see if Cosmic will also reach that state.
sadly it will need exactly to enable
sudo systemctl enable cosmic-greeter
calamares only does basic greetd greeters it will need to add the command to the systemd-module, or add a script to do so manually.
It definitely needs some themeing as most of the Windows have black icons and boxes etc. The Endeavour apps seem to be coloured though.
/etc/calamares/modules/services-systemd.conf
we have User Commands feature to manipulate calamares configs:
https://discovery.endeavouros.com/installation/customizing-the-endeavouros-install-process/2022/03/
i will add a script soon…
For now a workaround… may even simpler to do:
@ricklinux
i do not see any theming issues here:
I installed on vmware. I didn’t install the cosmic greeter. I’m using 3D on vmware. Those screens are black for me including the folders.
Edit: Installed again with your last instructions on vmware.
Install Logs
https://0x0.st/XxNs.txt
this looks more like the usual wayland in VM thing? I tried only on virtualbox there i see issue with yad apps but cosmic itself looks fine.
tried in vmware and i got the same… yad apps looking fine cosmic-stuff looks like for you

Re: “Those screens are black for me including the folders.”
Install vulkan-intel
as in post 54 (eso) was mentioned.
I finally went bare metal instead of VM. And as much as I wanted to like Cosmic on Arch, then on CachyOS, it was pretty damned buggy.
So I downloaded the latest Cosmic Alpha from System 76 and installed it on my Samsung laptop. Pop! Os Cosmic Alpha is nowhere near as buggy. Getting reacquainted with APT, but all-in-all, pretty solid for an alpha.
I’ll keep it on my laptop and follow its development further, submit any bugs and see how it goes. It still has plenty of work to be done, but the full Cosmic experience can’t be found on other distros… at least IMHO.
