My simple thinking is because the installer has gdm already active. Doesnā€™t make sense to switch in this situation.

The ISO itself uses sddm. The installer installs whatever DM is appropriate for the DE.

I was asking because the README says that a minimal Gnome is installed due to gdm and you have to manually switch to Cosmic before logging in. With SDDM this would not be required neither it would be the minimal Gnome.

sddm needs theming or it looks simply badā€¦ and Cosmic Desktop is still based on Gnome thingsā€¦ with GDM there is no need for any setupā€¦ okay in case of arch it will show arch banner on the login screen.
I could make use of the EndeavourOS config packages for sddm or gdm even lightdm could work.

But why not GDM is my question back?
Only downside is it brings in gnome-session.

Intel (graphical?) processors need:
sudo pacman -S vulkan-intel
without it cosmic-edit&cosmic-files had defects as well.

and instead of GDM ā€“ the nice cosmic-greeter works as well:

sudo systemctl disable gdm
sudo systemctl enable cosmic-greeter

Cosmic looks promising. I wonder if this will replace Gnome as the default Desktop, but I highly doubt thisā€¦
