Plasma resets to default after every boot

Hi all,

After having been using xfce for a couple of decades I wanted to see if Plasma would suit me.
Always had something against it, don’ t know why, the looks, the bloat…

Anyway, my xfce broke somewhat after 5 years on my laptop and I would give plasma a go.

It runs okay, kinda, except that the settings I had chosen, like theme, icons, color, etc, tend to reset to default after mostly every reboot.

Did I miss something?
Where should I start looking?

Cheers

Check the .config directory and make sure it is owned by your user and make sure all the files in it are writable by your user.

Is this a fresh install of Plasma or did you install it on top of XFCE ?

Fresh install with the latest iso.

Could be something wrong whit the global theme you have selected i guess.

You could also create a new user and see what happens.

Bit of a funny story, but I fixed a laptop for a colleague, left the install media (one of the tiny USB thumb drives), in the machine and had changed the boot order to boot off that first.

So any changes she made… oops

Looks like making all the folders and subfolders in the .config my own made a difference.
All stays the same after a few reboots.

Strange thing. The question is why all folders were not owned by you after a fresh install.
