Plasma 6.5.1 released

No issues here at all.

Well I just started using it so I guess I wouldn’t know, but a good thing to keep in mind for the next update, thanks.

Okay okay, I’m late — but I’m here now! :face_with_tongue:

Updated, but my external monitor stopped working on Wayland. I’ll have to debug this a bit more to say what happened, and it works great on built-in monitor. SDDM and X11 work, so it’s probably some Wayland bug.

I think this is one of the perks of using free software. The switch to wayland is somewhat pushed/encouraged (X login has been removed in some operating systems). And yet, it is still not quite as problem-free as x11. I recently connected my pc to my tv via hdmi. And once again, “wayland” caused issues when i had done it a hundred times, perfectly fine, on x11.

I understand that developers don’t want to deal with an ancient code base (which is X) but the transition is quite painful.

I take “minor issues with Wayland from time to time” over whatever MS is currently doing 10 out of 10 times. Right now, I simply rolled back to my snapshot from 2 days ago in less than 2 minutes and I’m back.

All good here. :ok_hand:

This is hilarious

  • When searching for “winver” it will now show the “About this System” page in Plasma 6.6. Winver is used on Windows for the Microsoft Windows system version information. The merge argues:

“I thought that Windows power-users are very used to checking the system version by running the “winver” command on that operating system. To help their muscle memory, this new keyword is introduced to pull up system information when they enter that in the search bar.”
