Pipewire not getting capture audio from Alsa

i dont know if its due to an update, or the small power cut the other day. but Pipewire doesnt seem to be getting the capture audio from Alsa. after poking about, routing stuff in QPWGraph, poking Alsamixer, even testing the hardware in Windows (the hardware is fine), i tested the input in audacity using the direct alsa input for my microphone. it shows up fine on the monitor. so Alsa is working, and so is my hardware.

But, trying to pipe my microphone, or any inputs, to mumble or discord, or anything, returns silence.

something somewhere is failing to rout the audio from Alsa to Pipewire, even though pipewire sees the hardware, can playback audio fine, it will not rout through the capture from Alsa.

i have the pipewire packages for alsa, jack, audio, and pulse installed, as well as the base pipewire. none of the conflicting packages like pulseaudio are installed.

as i said all was working fine last week before the power outage, but i had to nurse some drives back to health before i could use linux again, since windows had to scan and fix them. and there have been updates to Endeavour packages in the meantime. so i have no idea what the cause is.

i tried running a reinstall of the pipewire packages and that hasnt helped. could it be a corrupt config, or library? i wouldnt know how to check.

for reference, my sound device is an E-mu 1010 with 1820 IO module. as said this works fine.

I ask with the courage of beginners, what does helvum show?
