Pcmanfm-qt doesn't show icons

According to them, did you manage to reproduce something similar to what I experienced?By the way, I think when installing the LXQt group, the oxygen theme should also be installed automatically.

Yes, I also had no icons in pcmanfm-qt when using only window manager without a DE and setting oxygen icons fixed that for me as well.

It’s listed as an optional dependency for lxqt-session, not sure though whether it is installed or not with the lxqt-group
I am rarely using DEs, even less so QT based, so most of the time I am clueless of what’s going on

never use qt5ct in lxqt
qt5ct is bad

why?
When someone says not to do something because it’s bad, it usually has the exactly opposite effect

well because the lxqt has its own qt platform plugin and theme

its same like using qt5ct in plasma

it doesn’t explain why it is “bad”. lxqt does seem to override it, but launching apps with --platformtheme qt5ct works as expected.

Interestingly, Debian Sid also displayed the icons well on the LXQt with the papirus icon theme, without the need to install the oxygen icon theme separately.
Are you just using a window manager, or even just a simple command line?

Usually just a window manager, something as simple and functional as possible.

DEs sometimes add to much complexity

was it a lxqt based install of debian , or is also a gtk based desktop to lxqt.?

QT5CT is a plugin to match basicly the QT theming to the gtk theme you using, is like you use a theme X thats gtk but naturally QT does not match it with qt5-styleplugins gtk2 widget style you match the qt to theme X. but of you have qt5ct combined with lxqt, you have twwo captains on a small size sailboot. twwo different config settings. and pcmanfm-qt is just a sailor want to please other also. so you have some icons issue basicly. if it had one captain , pcmanfm-qt should match the lxqt settings naturally. but thats my vieww

Debian has been installed in the past, but LXQt is the default environment, although Xfce is also checked.

on that point i can’t tell
qt5ct is qt5settings for gtk desktops
to do matchy matchy, for this need to setup in /etc/environment
you end with 2 qt plugins, thats why i think pcmanfm-qt dont like it, i dont know why debian is different
if they dont setup qt5ct you dont have this issue

Yes, you are probably right, they did not set qt5ct. Anyway, if I had known, I would have installed the oxygen icon theme in the beginning, and the environment wouldn’t have had to change. Anyway, I’m writing this post on LXQt now. It looks almost as mature as Xfce, this wasn’t the case with LXDE.
