Partitiianmanager looks stuck

Hi all,

looking for advice, my boot partition was out of space so I’m trying to resize it, which involved shrinking and moving my data partition too. The issue is it looks stuck, it’s been 3 and a half hours and it’s not done shrinking and moving the main data partition. Also did I mention that I didn’t back it up first, yes I know stupid mistake. Looking at the partitianmanager output it looks like a job is stuck or not started which is to
Job:Move the file system on partition /dev/sda5 to sector 572526592

Not sure what to do, do I leave it running the rest of the night. Not sure what my options are. Any suggestions?

Basically not sure if I should hit cancel and start over or if that would risk killing my HD

What filesystem is on the partition you are shrinking and moving?

In general, I would not cancel it.

Hi @dalto well the computer completely froze so I rebooted it, looking at the drive now with gparted the partition was moved, but gparted doesn’t know what the format it is, It was an ext4. Any idea how I can rebuild it?

lost everything on the HD, going to have to rebuild it from scratch
