Pacman -R xorg-server (finally)

Ok, I didn’t even realize I still had it installed, I haven’t invoked it in at least two years. It’s gone now.

I’m close, but in no hurry to dump X11 (Xlibre, actually). Hyprland is still dependent on xorg-xwayland, and I still have a couple of old games that don’t run on Wayland.

Yeah, I’m still hanging onto xorg-wayland, probably for a couple more years

Its still required by sddm for me.

Have you considered switching to plasma-login-manager?

is it stable enough? what about my sddm login theme?

Not sure, I don’t use graphical DMs anymore (ly on every system I manage). I would ask on the KDE Discuss forum.

ok thanks. I dont think its been rolled out to kde in the official sense.

For v6.6, it has. But SDDM is still supported. Trying a quick search, I did not see anything official as to if/when SDDM would be deprecated.

I just read the arch wiki on it. I guess theres some maintenance that I’d need to do if switching. Does endeavour iso still come with sddm? I guess I’d switch over if they have.

The next ISO is due to be tested soon, will come with plasma-login-manager.

Sddm is in an unsupported state, just basically ‘limbo’, I’ve been using (with one issue which is resolved like six months ago) plasma-login-manager for over a year. It’s basically it works till it doesn’t work any more (sddm).

Yes been using it since it’s release with no issues for me

You won’t be able to theme it like SDDM, but in reality how long to you actually see this screen?

Whoa I did not realize this. sddm depends on XOrg. I wonder what does plasma-login-manager use? XOrg or Wayland or something else?

If i dump sddm then I will be able to dump legacy XOrg entirely. One more reason to get rid of sddm.

Sddm by default uses X to display, but can be configured to use kwin-wayland instead.
I assume (but don’t know) plasma-login-manager uses it by default.
