Orphans safe to remove?

Maybe this is an odd question for you, but if you’re not interested in using the terminal. . . Why choose a distro centered around using the terminal??

Mint or Solus may provide a better experience for you on a day to day basis.

Not saying you must use it for everything. But certain things would very much be better off doing with terminal.

What operation? The systemd behavior you describe above?

In an extreme case, yes. For example, if you use a meta package to install your DE and then the meta-package is removed for some reason, everything to do with that DE will become orphaned.

I think you are referring to a different kind of orphans. That sounds like it may be something coming from fsck. Perhaps orphaned inodes?

Yes, I was thinking of orphaned inodes. Only the orphan is common in the two mentioned things.:grinning:
