I’m sure this is a stupid question but that’s how I roll. 
With Open Collective, I didn’t see a way to switch the currency to USD. So that begs the question… can us donors in America use our credit cards to donate? Or should we do bank transfers?

You can make a payment with US credit cards, somehow the Open Collective page doesn’t have the ability to change the currency.
you have to start by registering on the site
with a U.S. based credit card I was able to donate in euros. the transaction on my end was in dollars.
