Nvidia installer leaves me with a black screen

This issue found me as I updated the drivers and this solution worked for me:

I tried the NVIDIA installer with bumblebee, but it did not worked very well. As soon as I installed the bumblebee drivers, I blacklisted noveau, disabled bumblebee and restarted. Afterwards, I set up Optimus and everything is working as it should (so far).
