Hi, so i just installed eos onto an old optimus laptop (Acer Aspire 4752zg, nvidia gtx 520M).
I tried installing nvidia-390 drivers and seem to have issues. is it worth it to use nouveau drivers in 2023?
It depends on the situation.
For very old hardware like that, it will definitely be easier to use Nouveau.
You are sacrificing some performance but you may not need it depending on your use case.
On the other hand, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep the 390x drivers working with current kernels.
My recommendation would be to try Nouveau first and see if it works for you.
I got to install nouveau and bbswitch + bumblebee, but now I cannot seem to be able to use it due to drm issue.
