[not solved yet] Navbar at the bottom the bottom-navigation (of programs) in eos vanished

navbar at the bottom the bottom-navigation (of programs) in eos vanished

what can i do here-
BTW after booting it shows up for some seconds - then its vanishes.

look forward to hear from you

ps. the only think i can see is the “Wellcome” - panel - with all the update-options etc.etx.
btw: can i start here a console and fix some thin here!?

see the image:

note. the bar appears for some seconds then vanishes..–duhh what can i do now.
btw: i hope that i do not have to save all the data - But if so. i would be able to do this via a terminal that could be starded with the tool “Wellcome” - etc. that is the only thing that appears at alll..

what do you say!?

Do you mean the panel is in Auto Hide mode?

If so:

Move your cursor to the bottom edge of your screen. This should raise the panel.

With your cursor on the panel, right-click the mouse. A popup menu will appear.

Click on Show Panel Configuration.

A new popup window should appear. In the Visibility section, change the setting from Auto hide to Always visible.

Click on Exit Edit Mode.

hi there - good day dear Stagger_Lee
many thanks - i did the recommended step - and yes: i saw wa popup-with some config-options - but i am not able to bring back the panel…

it is hidden all the time ..

i will try to find out more..

OK, how about this - right-click on the empty desktop. A popup window will appear.

Click on Enter Edit Mode.

Does the bottom panel show up when you do this?

Click on Exit Edit Mode when you’re finished.

You could also try add the default panel from edit mode and see if that works.

good day my dear

i will do that - thanks for the tipps and recommendations.

i ll keep you informed

btw: what bout adding a new user, and afterwards - to see if the issue also affects the new user. I ve heard that some DE’s have auto hide options for their various panels, but it could be the panel is just Crashing for some reason.

any way: ill keep you posted.

Always a good way to check things if all else fails.

good day dear Smokey, hello dear all!

i guess that i am in a not too bad position: since i can access the wellcome - window:

well that said:

  1. In the Welcome app, i could look for a terminal/console button or icon - it’s often in the bottom row or under “Tools”
  2. If you can’t find it, press Ctrl+Alt+T - this might open a terminal even without the panel
  3. Once i have a terminal, i should be able to try to restart the panel - trhough the terminal:
# For Xfce panel (most common in EOS)
xfce4-panel -r

# Or if that doesn't work, kill and restart:
pkill xfce4-panel
xfce4-panel &

btw i am on lxqt - panel

For Xfce panel (most common in EOS)

xfce4-panel -r

Or if that doesn’t work (At all) - well i also could try out to kill and restart the stuff:

pkill xfce4-panel
xfce4-panel &

and -well last but not least i could do the following (like metioned abouve) Add a new user . just to test the wohle thing!!

eg-likeso

# In the terminal, create a test user
sudo useradd -m testuser
sudo passwd testuser
# Then switch to test user
sudo su - testuser
startx # or log out and log in as testuser

BTW if I am trying this I get back…

Permission denied
/Etc/passwd could not get locked

Well that’s a bit funny

Any idea

upDATE: pkill -x did the trick - now everthing is fine now -
guess that the LXQt was killed and had the chance to restart well

so the think is solved
have a great day . - greeting

hi there i thought that pkill -x does the trick - but that is not true i have to do this over and over again

what could i do to get rid of the bahavior

good day - hello dear Friends,
well do you have any idea - since i allways have to add pkill-x first - and then to “restart” all the things … untill i can see the navbar!?

what can i do here!?
