No menu-bar in LibreOffice and other apps

I don’t have menu maybe it’s something I disabled? Not my thread but hope the OP does have it.

You don’t have it because you are using the default layout, same as OP, so I was really just shooting in the wind.

This is the Grouped Compact layout:

yeah but you solved this because OP can ALT+V to get that interface window. I just got to it without a mouse. ‘grouped’ will get him/her to that floating menu on the end that will get him to titlebar checkmark box. this has to be solved now?

Mine on KDE Plasma, Wayland…

Would be up to the OP to say which suggestion solved it for them. Plus, that shortcut is your suggestion, not mine.

Thank you for your reply. I don’t understand what you said. I don’t know what Qt and Gtk means, I’m new linux user. In KDE system settings there’s nothing that would be helpful. I tried everything there and no change.

I would do that if it worked but it doesn’t. I tried before and couldn’t load the picture of my apps so I used a stock picture from internet to show how it looks.

What means OP? DDG? UBU?? BSD? I’m so confused! I don’t understand you.
ALT and other options doesn’t work at all.
The menu-bar is not hidden somewhere, it doesn’t exist. The same error persists in other programs like Clementine and Okular.

There is no such option in my apps in which the error exists.

Tried that too, no success. I think it is KDE settings but in KDE settings there’s nothing affecting the apps.

I have Standard Toolbar, and can’t change user interface because I don’t have File/Edit/View line. There’s no MENU option anywhere.

The error exists in other apps so it must be KDE settings affecting it.

op=you (original poster)
ALT is a a key on your keyboard
duck duck go is ddg
ubu short for ubuntu

get hip, daddy-o.

so you are saying when libre writer is open…and you press ALT and V at the same time…drum roll please…nothing happens?
that would be an anomoly. what does KDE put in the water over there?

Just to confirm the full, but only implied instructions, did you follow the steps below in this particular order?

  1. Close ALL LibreOffice windows
  2. Navigate to your “home/username/.config” folder
  3. Delete or rename the “libreoffice” folder
  4. Reopen LibreOffice

Any other order is likely not going to have the expected results.

If the above doesn’t work, then yes, it is likely a KDE/Wayland issue.

Try searching for “menu” or “global” or “toolbar” in KDE System Settings. There really should be a setting in there that fixes this. Again, I’m not booted into my KDE installation, so I can’t check, but I know that KDE System Settings can control a lot of the overall desktop experience.

You may need to go through all the settings to find the relevant setting, unfortunately.

Not to be a wag here, but the point of sending a screenshot is to see what is going on with your own installation.

If a stock photo would suffice in addressing the problem, you could just send a photo of a properly functional app screen - problem solved.

I didn’t even notice that the OP said they used a “stock” photo, though I did suspect it.

No wonder this is difficult to troubleshoot.

I gave up with KDE and installed Cinnamon, not everything works but much less errors than KDE.
Thank you for your help but none of suggestions above helped resolve the issues.

What doesn’t work?

I’ll make a new thread under Cinnamon so others could find it.
