No Ethernet or Mouse Detection

On Dell XPS 13 – requires thunderbolt three to connect to a docking station which then connects to ethernet, bluetooth usb mouse, and hdmi for second monitor.

In the past, hdmi connection is iffy, but ethernet and mouse have always connected. This was true both with Deepin (which I switched out of recently because of other bugs I had trouble with) and now plasma.

Now, 2nd monitor works for the most part, but there is no detection by plasma of the mouse or the ethernet connection existing at all.

I just started to notice this today, but might have been happening for a few days. I have tried to restart, and logging in and out, with no changes.

Thanks!

Thanks!

For the Ethernet you may want to try r8152-dkms which is in the AUR

Thank you. I looked back and confirmed it didn’t work for four days. Oddly enough it is working again this morning (for both devices) – I did run an update last night and this morning so perhaps that did it. If I run into the issue again, I will absolutely give that a try.

Thanks again.

Well there was firmware update i noticed this morning so maybe that did it.

You can use e.g. the pahis program to easily see update history and look for package linux-firmware.
If pahis is not installed, simply install it:

 sudo pacman -S pahis
