New Linux distribution: Anduinos

great comment. lots of great distros even ubu and I like Deb 12.
It made me think, for me, personally, I always make my ‘judgements’ based not on looks, not on packages, not on rolling, not on stable, not on reputation or anything else…it’s just how agreeable is the package manager in the CLI is for me.
A comfort level thing.
Strange criteria but so many choices with Linux we all have that one thing we need. Mine is uncomplicated terminal package management. For others it’s ease of gaming. Etc.

I was talking about people who are new to Linux, as in that Ubuntu might be there first distribution so they just started their journey. I’ve seen topics where someone just moved from Windows to Ubuntu and then for whatever reason they get shit on. We shouldn’t be hating on other Linux users, that’s one reason why I think the “Linux community” is know for generally being toxic. It’s different if you’ve got some experience with Linux and thought Ubuntu just suits me best but to shit on new Linux users who just came from Windows is just plain nasty not sensitive. There’s also a difference between saying something to someone and shitting on someone.

Arch user: I like hotness of rolling release, testing new features/apps, reporting bugs…get up-to-date with the tread, learning new tech things…
Debian user: I don’t want myself as lab-rat, old packages are fine as long as it works…

Different choices, different use-cases

I don’t think it’s being toxic. Consciously or sub-consciously we compare things by hierarchy.
More choices = more arguments on what is best (which is irrelevant). There are no choices so you don’t see Windows users being toxic.

But how do you expect to convince someone?..by saying Ubuntu is as good as Arch or Windows?

I also said.

For example. You can say to someone who just moved from Windows to Ubuntu. “You’re such a noob and stupid for choosing Ubuntu. lmao!” This would by my definition be the toxic version, also the exaggerated version just for the sake of trying to explain it.

Or you could say. “Cool man that you moved to Linux but there are more and better choices than Ubuntu because of x, y, and z. Be sure to also try EndeavourOS so that you have a comparison and what most would think here is a better experience.” - This being just saying something to someone and giving a useful answer that someone could do something with.

So in short just making fun of someone without giving constructive feedback is going towards toxic depending on the content. Replying where you explain to someone why and giving constructive feedback is just say something to someone without it coming over as looking down on someone.

I first heard about AnduinOS around November, so it’s not necessarily new.

Quite frankly, I don’t think it has anything that can make it stand out among other Windows-like distros. Sure, it looks good, but that’s it.

I was talking about universally everyone everywhere in general.
