New Installation, bluetooth will not pair

Hey guys, migrant from Windows 10 here, and definitely loving the experience with EOS and KDE plasma DE.

Going through and setting up “my usual stuff” last night, I couldn’t pair a ps4, ps5, nor a set of Nothing (a) earbuds. They’re scanned and identified as they are, but will NOT pair in the UI nor Konsole bluetoothctl.

From what I can see in journalctl logging (…and I MIGHT be wrong?) is:

bluetoothd[201787]: profiles/input/device.c:control_connect_cb() connect to Host is down (112) and in the bluetooth UI I see "X br-connection-create-socket" which was from the last attempt at pairing the ps4 controller. .

I couldn’t find anything “that stood out” from searching online, reddit, nor “here”, but is there something with the bluetooth drivers atm?

Welcome to the forum :enos_flag: :enos:

Did you use this wiki about enabling Bluetooth on your system ?

I definitely remember installing bluez and bluez-utils.. I just installed blueman, and my headset AND ps4 controller connected. . I’m not sure what the difference is between the bluetooth - system settings and leveraging blueman, but configuring and troubleshooting last night at near midnight didn’t do me any favors apparently, lol..

Now see why Steam won’t pick it up. Thank you @keescase for the second set of eyes, per se.

You may need to install steam-devices from the AUR, then reboot.

aur/steam-devices-git v1.0.0.61.r44.1344348-1 [+6 ~0.01]
List of devices Steam and SteamVR will want read/write permissions on. Useful when using the Flatpak version of Steam.

brief search netted me, to install ds4drv.

A brief yay -S ds4drv, close/reopen steam and power back on the controller.. and that worked!

If you go and do this, and aren’t paying attn, it’ll ask to remove steak due to version conflicts. Just as info on this.

Odd I don’t remember it doing that, but I just read the PKGBUILD seems that it does, didn’t realize that the build was only for the Flatpak version of Steam even though it says so in the description.
