New Forum Post Composer

Took me a minute to figure it out. It wasn’t immediately obvious, at least not to me…

Yes, I’m sorry I forgot to create a new post about it.!

But never late than never, here’s the description about the new editor.

Thanks, @Bryanpwo!

Well that explains why I couldn’t copy and paste from the Arch Wiki earlier, I am not losing my mind (yet).

Can I set it to markdown permanently/will it remember my preference once set??

This look is quite different on the drop down menu.

Yes, it remembers the preference.

Yep. I noticed that as well. A cleaner look. I like it.

And it’s title ‘New Forum Post Editor’, we should give it a name. Does anyone like ‘Bob’?

Nope …

:joy:

I just edited it to “New Forum Post Composer”. I don’t know why I couldn’t think of that when I posted this. :grimacing:

I like the old mark down better. Are you sure it shouldn’t be “New Forum Post Composter”?

Just stumbled again over the new editor. I don’t much like it. In Markdown mode it’s relatively okay, but you have to adapt to the monospace font.

As often, new features sometimes make for a worse user experience. Tables and footnotes worked before, as far as I know?

Yes, I have used tables before here.

A bit annoying since I had to use a markdown cheat sheet as a reference and build it from scratch, but it was possible.

The “Insert Table” button did/does exist in the previous editor.
Its under the plus sign (along with “Hide Details” and some others).

For me, when using the new editor, when I press enter, the cursor doesn’t jump to the next line but the next but one. Is that how it’s meant to be?

That is how most WYSIWIG Markdown editors work. They add line spacing with each press of enter. Essentially you get a new paragraph. Of course, this doesn’t happen in a list where enter simply takes you to the next item in the list.

Thx @dalto

Never seen an editor work like this before, so I thought it’s maybe a bug.
