This weekend we scheduled the long-awaited release of the net-installer. It was supposed to be a Christmas surprise to the community.
At this moment Archlinux is preparing a big Xorg cleaning update and Fred Bezies did some test runs with the net-installer having the testing repo enabled.
It may come not as a surprise to you that the net-installer wasn’t working properly under those circumstances.
It looks like the update will hit the mainstream repo very soon and we have to address this problem.
We’re very very sorry to disappoint you again but as soon as we sorted this problem the net-installer will be launched.
The way I’m seeing this situation: Good things come to those who wait.
French translation: Le lancement de l'installateur en réseau a été annulé
I feel guilty somewhere, but at least, bigger troubles are avoided.
No, it’s a very good thing you did that. I think we got burned down if we launched it this weekend.
Burned down? I think the Tsar bomba would have been a firecracker…
I think it’s a wise decision.
The important thing is not how to arrive, but to arrive, and arrive in the best conditions. You are doing a great job, so waiting is grateful.
Agree. I would rather wait for a quality product than something rushed out just to meet a deadline.
