Threading is no problem for you? I don’t like it when emails are grouped by thread and it is not possible to disable that in Mailspring.
Will answer later on after work, but DONT use Bluemail. They are not trustworthy:
Link in german, sorry for that.
I’m used to threads from gmail. I actually don’t like it without threads
I used Kmail for a while, but its such a pain. Every new update everything got messed up.
Now i stick with thunderbird. I’m not a huge fan, but it works reliably.
Mailspring is nice, but doesnt fully support google calendar.
@milkytwix, Easy to translate, not a problem. That article is the author’s opinion. and the article itself is 7 years old.
Here’s the reality…
Robust Security
Blue Mail has robust and secure privacy settings that keep all of your data safe and sound. It also uses digital signatures and end-to-end encryption to create a near-impenetrable security layer.
Minimal data collection
BlueMail always aspires to process the least amount of data possible from you, while creating a powerful, sleek and intuitive experience. We strongly believe privacy and security are a top priority. BlueMail is 100% safe - emails are not stored on our cloud and users’ data is never sold.
GDPR & CCPA compliant
BlueMail complies with t data protection regulations including the GDPR & CCPA.
This Is The complete BlueMail Privacy Policy:
I tried Blue Mail 2 or 3 times. But I didn’t like it. I can’t remember, what the main reason was not to use Blue Mail. There was something I was annoyed about … ![]()
Email programs used to be hot business, but apparently they’re a dying breed now, evidenced by how few we have to choose from.
That was not just an opinion - there was an actual test by a well-known pentester, with actual facts (not just statements by the vendor or a single guy I don’t know), which was followed by the vendor to debunk this facts. This behavior brings you directly onto the shitlist - at least for me.
So, I repeat: DON’T use Bluemail, vendor is shady.
Whether or not it was an opinion, it’s 7 years old. Not relevant today. I provided links to security and privacy in my post.
Exactly… for YOU. I think what bothered me was the blanket statement of “DON’T use Bluemail.” Telling everyone not to use it because of your feelings regarding them via a link to a 7 year old article is a bit over-the-top, IMHO.
Agree to disagree for the latter part - if a vendor does something so shady he belongs there, and I will raise my opnion to warn every one.
Agree COMPLETELY! And I sure have no problem with that at all.
But again, telling everyone not to use it is completely different than sharing an opinion and suggesting folks use caution and investigate further. Which is what I did, investigate further and included updated privacy and security info about BlueMail. Seven years ago is a LOOOOOONG time. Things change.
Having said all that, I do respect your opinion. But you’re right… we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
Even though the article is that old, the situation has not much changed I think. In their privacy statement BlueMail says that for the mobile app they will store your email credentials on their server.
We will process your email credentials in certain cases. If you use Windows, Mac, or Linux: We do not process your credentials or OAuth tokens. If you use a mobile device: If you configure your account settings to allow instant push notifications when you have a new email and use OAuth-supported email accounts on Android, or IMAP and Exchange email accounts on iOS, we will process either the OAuth token or encrypted credentials. We refer to this as “Credential Information”.
They say they are not doing this for the Linux client. Feel free to trust them. But for me this is an absolute no-go. There is no need for any app on any of my devices to copy my passwords to a foreign server.
Thats the reason why they are on the list of “not recommended email clients” of the Leibniz Rechenzentrum. The page is in german.
I hear ya. And i get it. I’ve never used their Android/iOS apps. As for desktops/laptops, if I disbelieved all companies regarding their app security or privacy statements, I’d have virtually no apps on my computer.
What do you mean by “YOU”. I hope you are referring to the developers of Bluemail? ![]()
Please quote not one sentence without quoting the one directly before, which the quote refers to:
With full context it is easily readable that I was talking about the vendor, because non other’s behavior was talked about by me, especially in the sentence right before this statement.
And yes, I feel a bit offended by the fact that you think I would talk about someone who actually trys to help me in that manner.
Okay just checking because it was flagged.
Wait what, I got flagged for this? What’s going on here? Enough EOS forums for me today.
Thanks for everyone who is helping, will come back tomorrow.
Pardon me? I was just asking because it was flagged and i wanted to check with you before making any judgement. I’m sorry you feel that way.
That’s odd. Why would anyone flag that post?
While I disagreed with that post, it seemed clear to me and not offensive or out of line in any way.
That’s why i asked. I wasn’t sure if you as in “YOU” were on the list which made me laugh. ![]()
