Had about 10 files to update today including Libreoffice . Download went fine. But when it came to installation I got a core dump. . . . any idea’s or fixes? What causes this?

Rich

hello, you can try: pacman -Syyu

I’ve just started seeing a segfault just after “checking keys in keyring”. A reboot didn’t help. I’m looking into it now.

Edit: possibly a corrupt package in the package cache. Re-downloading to a different CacheDir seems to help. Testing further.

Any particular reason you run as root?

Nope, my issue is different and due to a crash in cachefilesd:

[ +4.409013] CacheFiles:
[ +0.000004] CacheFiles: Assertion failed
[ +0.000019] ------------[ cut here ]------------
[ +0.000001] kernel BUG at fs/cachefiles/rdwr.c:715!

This might be related to the changes to FSCache in 5.8…
