I usually turn on my GNU/Linux machines in the afternoon, unless it’s weekend (Saturday is maintenance day and Sunday is full relax), so my morning routine is a little detached from The Mighty Penguin.
Wake up (5:30 am – 7 am, depending on whether I have to be in the office that day or not)
Have breakfast, morning tea and quick toilet
Wash the face, brush teeth, get dressed
Do the Duolingo
Touch grass
Get my lazy a** to work
On Saturdays, point 6 is “turn on my EOS laptop and run yay”.
(Responding in English, guess this part of the forum is English.)
@emk2203That’s a fine mess you’ve gotten me into! (a.k.a. rabbit hole…) I bought a Fingerbot Plus (BLE, CR2 battery) from botland. These Aliexpress links are all much more expensive, the cheap ones are fake, showing the price of the accessory kit only.
Then I had to install Smart Life (for Tuya) on my cellphone, add the device (fantastic thing, thanks for the idea!), create a Tuya developer account and do crazy things, then find which of the zillion forks of the original Tuya BLE Home Assistant integrations actually could work (none did), found garnser’s repo, added it manually to HACS, then I had to patch 9 Python files in the integration, couldn’t file a GitHub issue (disabled), ask to implement the new device in the HA Forum, … and now, finally, it works!
BLE Fingerbot Plus (with a switch on the device so I can manually make coffee) connected to Home Assistant, via an ESPHome ESP32 Bluetooth Proxy. And finally, automated coffee making by having the Fingerbot press that idiotic touch button on the coffee maker! What a journey!
Yeah, I guess it’s safer to buy from a in-country source to avoid fakes. IIRC, Adaprox is the original manufacturer of these devices, so definitely a good choice.
That’s a deep rabbit hole you went into! Or just a typical day for HA aficionados?
But great to know that someone (you) paved the way for such a neat device in the HA ecosystem. Should I ever get around to install HA myself, it’s ready and waiting, and I guess a lot of others will use this as well. Please expect me to ask some questions then…
Thank you for mentioning Fingerbots, @emk2203! I never really dug the difference between Switchbots and Fingerbots, actually thought about using a Switchbot, but a Switchbot could never have handled the touch button on my coffee machine! The Fingerbots are so much more versatile (get the accessory toolkit!), plus I can adjust the amount of movement the arm does to press the button—in HA even! Fantastic.
Back to “Morning Routine”… Guess what I’m drinking? Righto, a freshly brewed coffee, started brewing by my Fingerbot half an hour before my wakeup alarm! So happy!
