Missing core package on fresh install

Today I installed EOS on a new laptop and noticed ifconfig was missing. So I checked and the net-tools package wasn’t installed. Not sure if something bad happened during installation (no error message appeared) or if the package was deprecated or something? Now I’m kinda worried something else may be missing on my new EOS :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

So it has been deprecated in 2011 ? :astonished_face: Weird, I’ve always used it without having to install it… Anyway. Thanks!

We haven’t installed that by default. It is possible it was coming in as a dependency of something else.

So it is “ip” and “nmcli” now, I feel old… :man_white_hair:

Yes .. its been quite a long time now that those old tools have been replaced by things like ip.
