I just switched to EOS a week or two ago. I thought everything works well so far though i now noticed that on some games that include Videos these Videos don’t seem to play. I know it worked before on Manjaro so my guess is i missed something. I first noticed it on the Tony Hawk Remake. Videos there just wouldn’t play anymore. I followed the Arch Wiki for AMDGPU and already installed the packages mentioned for AMDGPU. Though that didn’t help. My guess is that i might miss some codec? I found out that the Videos that give me trouble are .mp4 and they play just fine when playing them manually with mpv. I guess i might somehow miss codecs for Flatpak (using Bottles there) ? Can anyone help me out?

```auto
sudo pacman -S gstreamer gst-libav gst-plugins-base
```

and have a look if things are working.

Ty i installed that packages however videos still refuse to play. Do i need to do anything to get that working with Flatpaks or something?

If the steps above doesn’t work, perhaps the best is trying to find out what type of codec is used for particular those videos, to find a precise solution.

Doing a search for “flatpak codecs” lead me to:

> [https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/available-runtimes.html#freedesktop](https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/available-runtimes.html#freedesktop)

Looking at what I’ve got installed, I see, among other things:

```auto
ffmpeg-full org.freedesktop.Platform.ffmpeg-full 23.08 system
openh264 org.freedesktop.Platform.openh264 2.1.0 2.0 system
openh264 org.freedesktop.Platform.openh264 2.1.0 2.2.0 system
```

They must have got installed on my system as dependencies of other flatpak apps that I have unfortunately lost track of 😊

You might want to do some research in this direction.

Apparently its` H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10` at least that is what mpv says about the videos.

I also have these installed which i guess should work for the Videos. Though still nothing lol.

If you mean just watching any videos then yes. I also tried the VLC-Player as Flatpak to see if it would be able to play the problematic videos which worked fine as well. In general i watch all kind of stuff on this computer. Have a lot of mkv files, watching youtube, Netflix, etc… all works as expected.
