Lxqt no system sounds

Hello all!

I’m using Lxqt and pulseaudio, pipewireand and all sound systems are installed, but there is no system sounds - for example when I change the volume there should be a little beep sound. But there isn’t. Only music files give sound, but not system sounds…

Is it normal? Or is it a bug? Or must I change/install something ?

Please be clear when you are asking questions unrelated to EndeavourOS.

In this case, you are using a Debian base, correct?

Correct

Are you talking about event sounds? LXQT is a Lightweight Desktop not sure it offers Even Sounds. I’ve found nothing when searching.

Hello @andre46 ,
I failed to set the event sounds in either of arch or debian based Lxqt-s as
Andrea suggests.
The closest in weight that worked for me is MATE (EnOS) :
yay -S sound-theme-simple
dconf-editor

You suggest installing MATE. But we need Lxqt.

It sounds like you might be missing some of the sound theme packages, which LXQt doesn’t always pull in by default. You could try installing “libcanberra” and “sound-theme-freedesktop” if you haven’t already. Once those are installed, check the LXQt Session Settings under “Environment” to make sure the sound modules are actually checked and running. Sometimes even just toggling the “Enable system sounds” box in the Appearance settings off and on again after a reboot helps the system register the changes. If you’re using Pipewire, make sure the wireplumber service is active too, as that handles the actual routing for those event sounds.

I made some tests where event sounds are working. I do not suggest anything.
You expect a ready-made solution but don’t bother to watch the video attached to the post.

There’s no video. Where do you see it?

Interesting, I’ll check this

This didn’t help.

Where do you find this option? There isn’t.

I do not guarantee success. Blue text here means a link.
