I’m using Lxqt and pulseaudio, pipewireand and all sound systems are installed, but there is no system sounds - for example when I change the volume there should be a little beep sound. But there isn’t. Only music files give sound, but not system sounds…
Is it normal? Or is it a bug? Or must I change/install something ?
Hello @andre46 ,
I failed to set the event sounds in either of arch or debian based Lxqt-s as Andrea suggests.
The closest in weight that worked for me is MATE (EnOS) : yay -S sound-theme-simple dconf-editor
It sounds like you might be missing some of the sound theme packages, which LXQt doesn’t always pull in by default. You could try installing “libcanberra” and “sound-theme-freedesktop” if you haven’t already. Once those are installed, check the LXQt Session Settings under “Environment” to make sure the sound modules are actually checked and running. Sometimes even just toggling the “Enable system sounds” box in the Appearance settings off and on again after a reboot helps the system register the changes. If you’re using Pipewire, make sure the wireplumber service is active too, as that handles the actual routing for those event sounds.
I made some tests where event sounds are working. I do not suggest anything.
You expect a ready-made solution but don’t bother to watch the video attached to the post.
