My wife has now expressed the desire, she would like a program that can read her texts (from websites) aloud (German, no translation necessary), so that she can iron, sew, do yoga, whatever … The only thing I can think of is Orca, but it is designed to support blind people, that is, it reads out EVERYTHING you move the mouse pointer over. So there is NO need for a tool for the blind, just a text-to-speech tool. Any ideas or suggestions? (Operating system is EnOS Plasma).
There seem to be a handfull of addons for Firefox that may do what you want (disclaimer: I haven’t used any of them so…)
