Long wait while loading initial ramdisk

Asked this here as part of the EOS installation process, but as there were no replies, I decided to make a separate topic.
Booting stalls for almost a minute on “loading initial ramdisk …” on this old Lenovo laptop with 4G RAM. It doesn’t stall forever. Afterwards boot continues as normal with no discernible slowness, and all the apps needed function very well.
Basically I’d rate this issue as an inconvenience rather than a real problem. I didn’t notice it on the openSUSE install that EOS replaced. I’m wondering if this is expected behavior because of the age of the laptop and limited RAM or if something else is going on?

Is it also an old spinning HDD?
