I learned more from you than 5 YT videos. Thank you. I’m sure the ritual is key. So 50/50 absinthe/water is the goal? approx I mean?
No, about 4 to 5 parts water to 1 part absinthe. You can go a little more or less to taste, but about 4-5 parts is the “standard” ratio.
OK that sounds smart. Always wanted to indulge in this notorious treat. About 16 of these at total wine near me. From $4USD to $77USD makes it more intriguing.
Jade is by far the best that I’ve had. The Jade 1901 or the Jade Nouvelle Orleans are highly recommended. They’re pricey but worth every penny.
There is green absinthe and white absinthe. Personally I far prefer the bitter complexity of the green.
the green is what I’m drawn to as well, having learned a little about its history. the bourbon-colored ones not so much. looking forward to it being done right. cheers!
Shacksbury Yuzu Ginger apple cider (Vergennes, Vermont USA).
I found this on sale for a ridiculously low price today, so I had no choice but to try it. I am pleasantly surprised at how good it is. It’s not too sweet but just about right, just a tiny bit less sweetness would be perfect. Moderately crisp, the citrusy yuzu is noticeable but not overpowering, and the ginger rises as a bit of heat on the finish. This is nothing groundbreaking but it’s very tasty. It’s a great accompaniment to the Cambozola blue cheese that I have paired it with. It’s not my favorite cider but it’s quite nice, and I can’t complain about the sale price.
As always, apologies for the crappy quality of the photo, my phone is only one generation removed from a potato.
It makes no real difference but I prefer a photo someone has taken over a stock image (maybe it’s because of the non transparent white backgrounds). There are some advert quality shots on this thread though.
I have used stock photos before on this thread because, like @Stagger_Lee, my Fisher Price phone is one generation removed from a russet potato with sprouts and green skin. All to say I like the homemade booze shots the best like this one.
that’s when you know it’s right.
apple cider with a ginger bite sounds fantastic, especially with a citrus twist. I looked up Cambozola–“named after camembert and gorgonzola”–could not figure out where the blue streaks came from.
It looks healthier than OJ to me ![]()
Cambozola is a soft, creamy blue cheese. Like a good brie in texture, but a blue in taste.
Which led me to this:
Recently I went by this and itwas a nice clearance cider. I quite like ciders, so I grabbed it and tossed it into the fridge. Later as the day was unwinding and I grabbed it and gave it solid swig and my mouth and throat were on FIREEEE. Burning I spit it on the ground.
GOD DAMN HABANERO CIDER. Who the freaking hell makes a habanero cider. I have to be so much more careful with these discount drinks now.
Yeah I get it. I’m just saying he shouldn’t be apologizing about the picture quality. Potato quality is at least better than my eyesight after a few beers!
these were actually in Kroger today so I bought 2 of them. In my neck of the woods I usually have to go to a carneceria or tortilleria to get Carta Blanca.
Carta Blanca Mexican lager review: Crisp and smashing. Nice buzz, too.
EDIT: @Stagger_Lee bought some “Westminster Red Cheddar” on sale there. really rich cheese. first time I had it. Sold under the cheese merchant ‘Murray’ brand. It’s good.
Dos XX amber is my favorite Mexican beer so far.
that’s a good one. you just can’t drink five of those ![]()
Ever had Negra Modelo?
Not your typical Polish beer but one of my faves. I live literally next door (the genx version of literally) to a shop that sells Polish beer so I’ve had a few…
