For some reason, when I close the lid of my laptop, it suspends. I have the clamshell script removed even though it doesn’t cause it just in case that is it, but the behavior persist. What controls this behavior?
Have you checked Power Management settings?

Have you looked around your power manager settings? What would you like to see after the laptop cover is folded down? I think what you described is a normal operation.
Where are power management settings located? The BIOS?
