I lied…it is the 8168-dkms I have in there… will go try the official instead.
So the official does seem to work now, better than the DKMS one, which would need a modprobe after every resume. This issue goes back to this thread: R8168 Trouble
Funny what you put up with, just because you’ve had to do it that way for so long…
Well there’s not much can be done about it if there isn’t another module that works. I don’t have an issue with the r8168 unless i use hibernation and or sleep mode which i normally don’t on my desktop. But i did try it and found that it also didn’t resume and i used the r8169 and had no issue. 
Currently i use the r8168
