Krunner fails to launch - Qt 6.8.2 regression

Hi all.

I cannot find this reported anywhere else here and just thought that I would share in case anyone else is having this issue. For the past week or so, krunner has been failing to launch for me whether using shortcut keys or via CLI, telling me that org.kde.krunner.service does not exist; when, in fact, it does exist. Without getting into the dirty details, I discovered that it is a regression error in Qt 6.8.2 which causes QThreadStorage to be destroyed, crashing certain services (mainly krunner, but others as well).

Per the discussion here, it is a known issue and a fix will be forthcoming in Qt 6.8.3.

I don’t seem to have the issue, so does that mean arch has already backported the bugfix?

From the research I did earlier, it is not backported yet. However, another post I saw (but didn’t link) did say that the fix will be backported. At least backported in Neon. My guess is, if Neon is doing that, then Arch certainly will.

The correct info is that the KDE devs have asked the distro devs to do the backport. In the meantime there are several threads around about the issue including at least one on the KDE vforums and Garuda forums.

And I didn’t say anything contrary to this. The searching that I did found they would be working on Neon - as noted above. Not to mention, I shared one of several topics from the KDE forum, albeit not all of them.

It’s exactly comments like this why I left this forum last time. And we’re leaving again - for good.

I’m guessing from the username you came in only to troll.
