Hello friends, hope you are having a good Friday so far. So I posted about this on “discuss KDE” but it’s been like a week and a half with no response so I am posting here, perhaps I have a bit more luck. This is not, by any means, anything important (hence why I clarified on the title it was a mild issue).
I cannot remember FOR SURE, but I have the feeling maybe a month ago, before “an update”, Krecorder was able to record the audio with the EasyEffects input effects on. You know, noise gates, echo cancelling and all that jazz. EasyEffects is set to start on startup, and has the option for “process all input sources” ON. The bypass button is OFF (left top corner). Whenever I monitor myself (low right corner button) the effects are working. Whenever I try “mictests” webpage on browser, it’s very obvious the recording that gets picked up has the effects on. I am using one “male voice preset” from one of the guides. I also tested recording WITHOUT the preset on and you can tell the difference. There’s a lot of hiss and background noise that gets picked up. So I’d like to assume that for work, everyone is hearing me appropriately.
However, going back to Krecorder, I feel like at some point after an update that program stopped being able to record with the effects on. It doesn’t matter if in settings “default” is selected (or the mic) or “EasyEffects sink”. It doesn’t change. I tried reinstalling the package, but to no avail.
At first, I tried using Tenacity, but whenever I tried to record anything it would crash my desktop, and since I just wanted a very simple app where I can record 5 seconds to see if everything works before work, I decided to go with Krecorder. Again, I can’t remember for sure, but I have the feeling it used to be able to record things just fine (I have a situation and examples on why I think this way but is not too relevant to the issue and don’t want to extend this for no reason).
Does any of you know anything? Maybe the same thing just happened to you? Last time I updated my system was last weekend so it’s pretty up to date and on Wayland, if that matters.
