As far as I know you will need a swap file at least the size of your memory to use hibernation, for more information look at this Arch Wiki
Are you sure you are using hibernation (suspend to disk) and not sleep/suspension (suspend to ram) ?
Hibernation should fail on your system to begin with since you don’t have a swap device configured:
