I recently got the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition, and I was hoping to run some distro on it. It has one of the new Lunar Lake CPUs inside, and I was waiting for kernel 6.12 to release in order to actually install it (since I know that the bulk of support for that platform should have been added in that release).
I was able to use the bootable live USB to install kernel 6.11 on it last night, and it booted in, but without any support for the built-in keyboard and mouse or WiFi. I used an external keyboard / mouse to update to kernel 6.12.1-arch this morning, but after booting into the new kernel, it just gives a black screen. I tried a new online install this morning, plugging in an ethernet cable, but the same issue occurs. I also tried booting into the fallback 6.6 kernel, but it fails with [drm] *ERROR* ivpu_dev_init(): Failed to initialize firmware: -2
, which is somewhat expected.
Some other users on Reddit mentioned here (https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/1gvjj9m/yoga_slim_7i_aura_edition_and_linux/) that they’ve been having similar issues with the Lenovo Slim (although it seems to work on other laptops with the same Lunar Lake processor).
Since the platform is so new, should I wait for newer kernel updates before trying to install again?
