KDE Gear 22.08 was released last week and has now hit the Arch repos. (KDE Gear is the new name for KDE Applications).

One thing to note - kwrite is now part of the kate package, so you may be asked to remove kwrite and/or replace it with kate.
How unfortunate.

So kwrite is now kate with less options? I guess the “we don’t like options” crowd will appreciate that.
Historically, kwrite was something I didn’t install in the first place.
I don’t think so. Kate & KWrite now share the same codebase but are still different applications and are installed / uninstalled seperately.
kwrite isn’t in the repos anymore.

KWrite is part of the kate package now. Install kate and you get both. No need for flatpaks.

How much did it change? do you like the changes?
It change a lot as far as looks goes. I haven’t opened a file with it to see. Not sure right yet. I only use Kate occasionally.
Kate has had multi-cursor support for several months now… Not sure how this is a new thing.
