Just AMDGPU things

Multiple times a day. Please, make it stap! :sob:

That sucks…

Why? Why? Why? :scream:

Edit: On amdgpu

The first thing that comes to mind is an entry in
etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ called 20-amd.conf and containing:

Section "Device"
	Identifier "AMD"
	Driver "amdgpu"
    Option "TearFree" "on"
EndSection

No guarantees - but it might help… first thing to check I can think of!

I could see why this would get annoying! Have you looked at the xorg.0.log? At least it shows what the current settings are or not if they are enabled or not on amdgpu.

Three things:

A new linux-firmware (20210919.d526e04-1) just hit testing.

Also, trying mesa-git might show up whether it’s a MESA issue.

Finally, is this the same across different kernels?

Thanks for all the people responding. I was a in a somewhat sour, ranty mood after the last crash. Just venting. This is wayland and not X. All started around the 5.13 kernel (firmware) timeframe. I’ll hope it will be resolved soon.

PS: Maybe it’s best for a mod to lock the thread.

Wayland! :speak_no_evil: :innocent:

Well- there’s hope that the 5.14 will mitigate it! Here’s hoping…

I'm on 5.14.6-zen1-1-zen (zfs) right now - so it's out there
