JUST A HEADS UP no reason to panic-The AUR is being probed for attack once more

Oh Snap. A new initiate.

You will come across plenty of Flatpak propaganda on the internet.

FLATPAK FLATPAK ÜBER ALLES
UBER ALLES IN DEM LINUX

DER FLATPAKLAND MUSS GRÖSSER SEIN.

Etc.

But remember you are SMART, diligent inspector of PKGBUILDS. Cast off your sandbox and cry YAY.

I wasn’t talking to you, don’t worry. I was talking in general.

Tap the brakes guys, nuisance deletion requests in the AUR are nothing new, and absolutely nothing we should be worried about.

The AUR admins vet deletion and orphan requests. This nuisance deletion request will be ignored, as it should be.

It is tantamount to spam.

Primarily, the source must be pointing to the official upstream URL. In this case, that’s https://codeberg.org/librewolf:

source=(
  "git+https://codeberg.org/librewolf/source.git#tag=${_source_tag}"
  default192x192.png
  librewolf.desktop
)

If you see that value change in an update, that should catch your attention. For all AUR packages, you want to ensure that the source is pointing to the official URLs.

An deletion request would have to be reviewed and decided upon by one of the Arch maintainers.
It’s nothing a regular user could enforce.

That being said, if a user files a deletion request without a justified explanation, its unlikely that it’s actually going through. And including links to youtube videos including stupid comments is just spamming / trolling.

I wouldn’t even call this probing for an attack. The activities are clearly stemming from individual AUR accounts and I’m certain that these accounts could be easily suspended to avoid further shenanigans from their side.

TY Bink.

I had no idea I just saw the thread and thought, ah dam, here we go again!".

TY for clearing it up for me, and others.
