Endeavour provides all of the basic dependencies you would need to choose and install that don’t come prepackaged with whichever DE or WM you choose. This is why I prefer Endeavour. I like to think of it as a lightweight dependency “Framework” that I can alter/adjust/replace as I see fit.
They don’t simply because NUBs are not the explicitly stated target audience of Archlinux:
It is targeted at the proficient GNU/Linux user, or anyone with a do-it-yourself attitude who is willing to read the documentation, and solve their own problems.
I prefer endeavourOS because it does everything quickly, easily and just works. It has all aspects of being terminal centric and user friendly built in as well as an inviting helpful community spanning a vast array of knowledge and experience who are here for the same reason. To interact and have fun helping spread the purple magic!
Which is completely and totally fine (for them). But I think this is completely based on elitarism. Which is VERY strong within the arch community.
It has an advantage, though: Only their “bad” makes the purple good so GOOD.
It should be fine for each user of Archlinux too if they are aware of the intended target user of the distro.
I beg to differ.
They have a clear userbase in mind and they are perfectly entitled to do so.
If one has chosen to install Arch, the Arch way, then they have to play by the rule.
They cannot then go and ask, how and how often they should update their systems, what is an initramfs, how to chroot and the like. Then they deserve to be RTFM-ed.
This is my opinion and you have yours. And that’s totally fine.
You don’t “differ” at all. Because you are right. I was talking of their motivation to not adopt, and to start with that approach from the get go. And no, I am not stating a fact here, mind the “I think”.
It’s kind of the way i think also. I find the Arch install is a preferred method and then they have the archinstall method. It’s a “proper” way but so are many other arch install distros besides EOS. They’re just not the Arch way. It’s a different path to the same end.
But at the end people moves from distro a to z. Is kinda level things up before they settle
