I understand what you are saying I think. For me AI is not a good thing in general. It may be a great tool if used properly. But I see so many downsides to it’s use. Again it’s like social media or the Internet without any rules. It can be taken places where it shouldn’t. I’m just not a big fan of AI. To each their own but beware of the dangers that are inherent in it’s use.

That’s a great point.
I feel many times that there is a “subtone” of being judgmental and moralizing in the discussion.
No amount of moralizing, being judgmental and preaching has apparently brought us closer to unconditional love for our neighbors. Not at least for the great majority given the state of the world.
I like very much to be educated in many areas of life, too many. But I don’t like that anybody put themselves on high moral horses and judge me for each and every mistake I make along the way.

No. You’re wrong. I don’t judge you.
You are free to be as judgmental and moralizing you want to be.
But if you talk down to me, start moralizing and patronizing me, my back would be the last thing you see while I am walking away.

Who believes that? From a logical point of view this is impossible,
Even if the statement does not refer to 50 % of all content but only to 50 % of only the new content it is impossible.
50 % of all new videos on youtube are AI generated?
50 % of all blogs?
50 % of all forums?
50 % of all news articles?
Never!

It’s actually not new claim. Different sources have been stating this or something similar since the Spring of 2024.

The Internet was/is an amazing vehicle for gaining information, knowledge, streaming entertainment (TV, music), communicating, etc. but that’s rapidly changing.
Corporate Greed killed the internet years ago. A.I really is only a feather in the cap of a much bigger problem.
I see A.I like a Gun. It’s only dangerous if the PERSON operating it is dangerous. A.I at the end of the day is a system and like all systems there are Limitations. We can use it for good (Precision Medical Procedures) or we can use it for Evil (Terminator, Matrix, Oh La La)
At then end of the Day A.I is only as good as the information it was fed. Feed it bad information it will turn bad, feed it good information it will be useful for all. After all Humans still control the environment in which A.I learns.

That’s how I see it, too.
But people are corrupt, often they do things for imaginary things, like a badge picture in an online forum, a “like”, and subscriber numbers.

I was not talking about me, and I understand what you mean about people being judgemental for anything and everything, but at some point there’s nothing wrong being critical (against hate speech for example), for me at least.

The initial post is talking about “50 % of internet content is AI generated” you are referring to “50 % of internet traffic is due AI”. That is not the same thing.

My initial statement in this thread is a reply to the 2nd sentence of this article saying: “over 50% of internet content is now AI-generated”
This is what I challenge.
EDIT:
I do not challenge the AI traffic. That can well be 50 % or more. I am only challenging this content claim.
