Intel & Arm & AMD and vulnerabilities in 2022

Ya mines an X570 but i also have a new B550 on the shelf. Both MSI!

Asus started to release AGESA 1.2.0.8 to B550 chipset in order to mitigate the following vulnerabilities:

Vermeer
CVE-2020-12930 High
CVE-2021-26392 Medium
https://www.amd.com/en/corporate/product-security/bulletin/amd-sb-1029

The question is now, am I brave enough to install a beta BIOS? hehe

They don’t have it out for the X570 board I’m using yet which is MSI.

Edit: I checked the MSI site and even the B550 board i have which is still new in the box doesn’t have any update yet either.

Since it has security fixes, I suppose MSI will release a new BIOS update pretty soon for your mobo.

I would think so but as of right now i don’t see anything. I’m still running version 1.2.0.7

Check once a week their website.

Me too, I had 8 power outages this week due to storm and floods in my city, so I’ll wait..
It’s a Beta, so I’ll most likely wait for the stable release, and also for better weather here..

Ya …flashing the UEFI Firmware during power outages is a bit risky!

precaution is never too much

Just keep these 2 words away from each other.

I don’t remember what country you reside in, so I’m not sure about voltage, frequency, and plug type, but could a UPS be used? It would protect from surge protection, brown outs, and power outages.

Brazil. I have a UPS here but its for my network gear.
In order to get one for my desktop, it would need to be much stronger than the one I already have here, and unfortunately I can’t afford one right now. Perhaps in the future. But thanks for the insight

I’ve had 16 new UEFI firmware updates since i bought this board. All good!

Edit: 17 on my Intel board!

I bought my motherboard one year after release, so not so much of bios updates here, maybe 5 or 6..
