I am trying to install on a Dell xps 410. I notice that the windows are distorted, and I’m not able to proceed with the installation. I’ve burned the ISO to a USB, and confirmed that the hash value is correct. I’ve tried booting into it twice now, and I get the same results.
what used to “burn” ISO? you checked “save removal” for the usb?
Your problem might be related to the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS I found as potential GPU.
Did you start the live system with the NVidia option? If not, try again and please report back.

thats antique or not? https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/unix/legacy-gpu/ not supported with current Nvidia drivers, and so not with nvidia boot option.
Nvidia 304.xx // NV49 (G71) NV40 family (Curie)
only supported with nouveau. If booted with Nvidia option it would run on vga-fallback what could be the reason for the graphical issues .. With default boot option for all GPUs it should work basically. (using nouveau Drivers)
I added nouveau.modeset=1 nomodeset to the end of the linux line, but the gui still doesn’t look right. Did I do something wrong?
no thats not the way -.. there is no need to use the bootentry that is not suitable for your deviuce.. use the first default selected one that says “All GPUs” this will boot using nouveau drivers. The Nvidia boot option is ONLY for latest cards the info text on the menu already make this clear, the Nvidia booot entry has nouveau disabled by reason.
i do not think adding it will do anything as it is blcklisted before..
Again the default selected entry saying “All GPUs” will work for your legacy Nvidia GPU using the nouveau driver.
