I3 doesn't start after new python updates

I’ve tried the September .iso with the i3-config and it was not working on my computer.
The problem appeared just after the python update two days ago.

Welcome! :enos: :rocket:

Latest python update requires rebuild of more or less all python software, probably you have some outdated aur stuff, just try to run:

yay

I think by now it should be fine

yay -S --rebuildall --noconfirm $(yay -Qqo /usr/lib/python3.9/)

This command will rebuild/re-install all applications using python.

I’ve reinstalled endeavourOs with the i3 config and I’ve tried that command and the dm still doesn’t load.

I’m using the iso from September.

I’ve tried to make startx + exec i3 in the second consol and it nearly worked. I3 is running but there is other things from Xorg that appears, such as the terminal that execute i3.
I suppose that the problem is around lightdm ?

Are you using a hybrid laptop?

No I’m using a thinkpad T460

The i3 partition is not working on my laptop either. I’ll try the command @flyingcakes suggested If I can get to the terminal.

I just updated my work machine and it runs fine. I am going to do a fresh install on metal shortly to see if I can find out anything.

Fresh metal install, September release, new iso download burned via popsicle. No issues. This is on AMD / Lenovo desktop hardware.

@Gek can you post the same output i just did?

I’ve made the install with the september iso.
I’ve runned the command proposed by @flyingcakes.
I manage to have a usable environment on tty2 by doing startx + exec i3 but there is some artefacts (the terminal that run i3 is open in it and lightdm still don’t open at start)

Do you have xf86-video-intel installed?

Yes, the version from /extra

You could try removing that package. It has been known to cause issues.
