I find the behavior of flathub devs to be harmful for linux app development

What’s the point of using a rolling distro with flatpak?
Why not use a distro like Debian or Ubuntu? Is to be able to say I use Arch?
Using EOS with flatpak is like having Android with an iOS case.

If we’re going to use flatpak, it’s better for programmers to stop making programs and end the AUR, we’ll just be left with flatpaks and snaps

Hi all,

I think the last few comments are diverging from the original topic. I created this post to voice my concern about the flathub developer’s lack of constructive criticism and the seemingly arbitrary metrics.

This post was not about whether flatpak is good or bad. If you like it, use it, otherwise, don’t. Thank you.

That is good for you. But that does not mean that other users have the same requirements like you. This is not one size fits all.

I am using 4(!) flatpak apps. And this is for good reason. Telling me that a rolling release distro is not for me because I use flatpak apps is inappropriate.

No. That attitude contradicts what this forum stands for. This forum is inclusive and helpful.

flatpaks are not the end of AUR. It is not dooms day. You are exaggerating. flatpaks have a narrow corridor of use cases where they make sense on Arch.
