An annoying issue with the Steam runtime. The top row of drop-down menu items would disappear as soon as the mouse hovered over them. The fix I found was, in the “input” section of Hyprland.conf, you want both…
follow_mouse=1
mouse_refocus=false
Was a bit of a bear to find that fix so, figured I’d share it here.
UPDATE: Just discovered that my solution still won’t let the lower right “Add a Game” button work. There’s a better solution on the Hyprland Discord forum. Specifically, set these Window Rules.
#Special Rules for Steam to get the drop-down and lower right “Add Game” menus to work right.
windowrulev2 = stayfocused, title:^()$,class:^(steam)$
windowrulev2 = minsize 1 1, title:^()$,class:^(steam)$
Not entirely sure, but it appears the lower part of the Steam interface is another window of sorts. “Stay Focused” by itself still doesn’t work. Even with this, it’s still a little dicey. Sometimes takes a couple tries to get it to respond right.
After running some experiments on my setup. It does appear that I need that 2nd rule for the “Add a Game” button on the lower left corner of the Steam Interface to work. Even with it, it’s a little hit or miss.
Reviving a dead thread here but anyone else currently getting this issue? I’m on niri and I can’t find a 1:1 fix that’ll work for me. Literally makes parts of the apps unusable and it’s very annoying. It sprouted up randomly which is odd, not sure what I did.
