How to Change to Different Terminal With "Open in terminal" in Nemo?

Looking here 2.3, points to running this…
$ gsettings set org.cinnamon.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec terminal-name

But how would that work on KDE?
I’m looking to have Nemo open the Xfce4 terminal which I have installed.

System Settings → Default Applications is the general way to set it in Plasma. I assume it will work with Nemo as well.

I set it as the default terminal but doesn’t seem to affect Nemo.

Dolphin does use Xfce4 terminal but Dolphin, for some reason, is using a lot of the PC resources whenever working with it

Not sure if I remember this correctly but if you set e.g. nemo as default file manager in plasma dolphin will start misbehaving. But if you did not do that it might be something else. Maybe problems with Baloo.

Ah. That’s a pity.

A quick Internet Search suggests that using gsettings with the same command will work in Plasma as well.

Could be, but I’d expect it to be more general than when Dolphin is open.

Just tried it and the xfce terminal opens without a problem in Dolphin at my end , but I have to say I don’t have Baloo running if that accounts for something :man_shrugging:

Are there a lot of images, it could be the preview generation getting out of control.

I tried that and here’s what I got…

$ gsettings set org.cinnamon.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec Xfce4 terminal

Usage:
gsettings [–schemadir SCHEMADIR] set SCHEMA[:PATH] KEY VALUE

Set the value of KEY to VALUE

Arguments:
SCHEMADIR A directory to search for additional schemas
SCHEMA The name of the schema
PATH The path, for relocatable schemas
KEY The key within the schema
VALUE The value to set

Xfce Terminal is wrong. You’ll need to see what the actual application name is. Right click on the menu button and select Edit Applications. Navigate to the Xfce terminal and select it. You will see the application name in the program field.
