I still have dual-boot but only for 1 reason: Games.
My windows boot only has Steam/GoG/etc and games, and I only boot into it to play.
Everything else is done on Linux.

Does this mean i can update my intel ime firmware with hirens ? MSI released a firmware update for my machine that i cannot install using endeavour os. That firmware got released last week and it’s dated 08-2025 ![]()
I have used it to update firmware is the past. It is pretty useful for that
I cannot wait to do this, - sadly I still have to use one for work..
Today i tried to update the bios from a old hp notebook. Didn’t work. Well maybe i will install a windows 10 copy on a external drive someday. But for now i keep for it as it is. Stuff are working fine.
Try booting a USB thumb drive with Rufus and FreeDOS. It’s been a while but l was successful years ago updating an old Dell laptop BIOS that way. An .exe file can be executed that way without Windows
I still have a Win 11 laptop on my Microsoft account plus I play with their Rewards program daily. If I’m offered points for Amazon gift cards and other “free” stuff after clicking around a few minutes each morning on my phone, who am I to argue…
Use hirens boot cd. Never had an issue installing Bios Updates this way.
Thats what i used. It gaved me a error. Will post it later.
The error is as following
mountvol.exe
Windows cannot find `mountvol.exe`. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.
this happens when i click on the hp bios exe (extracting the exe file) and wants to install using inside flash tool. No matter what i do it does not install. The notebook i am trying to install the bios on is a old hp notebook from around 2013
Maybe download another copy of Hirens could be a bad download ![]()
